Well, I would say I would prefer a face-to-face interview to a phone interview because this allows me to give my future employer an idea about my manners, appearance, body language, communication skills, etc. In a phone interview the focus will mainly be on your communication skills. Even though you might have to invest a bit more time and effort to prepare yourself for the face2face interview, compared to the phone interview. But I think it also depends on the type of job you are applying …. if it is a job in which you would have to deal a lot with people on the phone they might be mainly interested in knowing how you come across over the phone and want to test that with a straight call. Or they have a lot of applicants and they want to do the first screening over the phone before they might invite you for a face2face interview.
